The Astoria Line, which was over a century old, recently underwent much-needed upgrades to improve access and reliability. One of the key components of this project was the ADA Upgrade and Station Renewal at the Astoria Boulevard Station. The work involved demolishing and reconstructing the mezzanine, raising it to provide more clearance for truck traffic below as well as replacing all stairs and elevators to improve accessibility. The structural work included replacing corroded steel members and reinforcing foundations and columns. Platform surfaces, signage, lighting, railings, and benches were also updated as part of this work. MCSS was part of The LiRo Group Consultant Construction Management Team for this project, providing Office Engineering and Field Inspection Services that were crucial to project completion.
